Freevibe Privacy Policy

The White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) created the Freevibe Web site as part of a national effort to prevent or reduce the use of drugs among young people. We take your privacy very seriously. We do not request, sell, share or rent any personally identifying information about you.

Information You Submit

The information we receive depends upon what you do when visiting our site. If you want to send an E-card or submit your comments to "My Story" or a Freevibe board, you will be asked to enter a nickname or a handle. You should never give your full name, email or home address or other personal information on these pages. In the case of the Freevibe Youth Advisor application, we require you to submit a parental permission form as part of your submission.

If you choose to submit a request to the "Contact Us" submission page, we will request your e-mail address only for the purpose of responding. We do not collect or share these email addresses.

Among the Freevibe staff who moderate the message boards and respond to your questions are the health and youth specialists from the National Clearinghouse for Alcohol and Drug Information of the U.S. Public Health Service.

If you choose to submit an Anti-Drug Creative Submission, Freevibe will adhere to the following guidelines:

I. In order to submit your Anti-Drug Creative Submission, you need to register in Freevibe's My Anti-Drug section. We require the following information:

Screen Name (which is a nickname, NOT your legal name) If you are an AOL user, please be sure to alter the screen name you submit to us, because AOL screen names function as email addresses too. We do NOT want your email address.
School Grade
The following registration information is optional:
Gender
State of Residence

Please note, none of the information we collect through the registration process is personally identifiable information. This means, that even when you provide all of the above information, we will not be able to identify you.

II. To upload (electronically submit) your Anti-Drug creative submission, you will not have to reveal personally identifiable information.

While your screen name and your state of residence will be collected if you upload a creative submission to Freevibe.com, submissions that incorporate any personally identifiable information will be immediately removed from consideration for online posting.

In order to comply with federal laws, we require that you send a Parental Permission form to WYAD Coordinator: 1615 L Street NW, Suite 1000 Washington, DC 20036. The Parental Permission form requires a child's legal name and screen name. We will use this information to match creative submissions with Parental Permission forms. We will not use the child's legal name for any other reason, except when special permission is explicitly provided by the parent. We will not use the parent's postal address for any purpose other than to communicate with their child, via the child's screen name.

Any company that helps us to run this Web site has signed an agreement indicating that they will only use the anonymous information collected in aggregate for the purposes for which they were hired.

COPPA

We will never knowingly request personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 13, to remain consistent with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) of 1998.

Internet Security Policy

For site security purposes and to ensure that this service remains available to all users, this government computer system employs software programs to monitor network traffic to identify unauthorized attempts to upload or change information, or otherwise cause damage.

Unauthorized attempts to upload information or change information on this service are strictly prohibited and may be punishable under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act of 1986 and the National Information Infrastructure Protection Act.

The type of browser and operating system used to access our site;
The date and time you access our site;
The pages you visit; and
If you linked to the Freevibe from another Web site, the address of that Web site.

We use this information to help us make our site more useful to visitors -- to learn about the number of visitors to our site and the types of technology our visitors use. We do not track or record information about individuals and their visits, except as detailed in this policy (See Anti-Drug Creative Submissions, II).
