Lots of teens mistakenly think that smoking marijuana is cool and won't jeopardize any of their future plans. There are far too many stories about how someone went out, got high on marijuana, lowered his/her boundaries and did something they really, really regret afterwards. |

Remember, drugs and alcohol can cause a person to engage in risky sexual activity when his/her judgment is impaired. This could result in sexually transmitted diseases, unwanted sexual advances, sexual assault, rape, pregnancy, and emotional trauma.

- Teens who have used marijuana are four times more likely to have been pregnant or to have gotten someone pregnant than teens who have never smoked pot. (CASA
)
- More than 1/3 of sexually active teens and young adults report that alcohol or drug use has influenced a decision to do something sexual. (CASA
, the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation and NIDA )
- Compared to teens with no sexually active friends, teens who report half or more of their friends are sexually active are more than six and one-half times likelier to drink (66 percent vs. 10 percent); 31 times likelier to get drunk (31 percent vs. one percent); and 22 and one-half times likelier ever to have tried marijuana (45 percent vs. two percent); and more than five and one-half times likelier to smoke (45 percent vs. eight percent). (CASA 2004
)
Knowledge is power. Learn about how marijuana affects you and how other teens are protecting themselves through abstinence , and what can happen if you don't .
